Bangkok Thailand nightlife , Pub, Bars
girl, Clubs, A go go
Bangkok is a great place for entertainment
night life, bars, pubs, clubs and a gogo.
Khao San
Road
The centre of the backpacking universe, Khao San Road is the place
in Bangkok for a raucous, anything-goes night out with its laid-back,
cosmopolitan flavour. An increasing contingent of trendy locals
to complement the multi-cultural mix, plus a new breed of sophisticated
bars and clubs, make this the perfect spot in town to eat, shop
drink and dance (in no particular order) without a care in the world.
Loud dance music rules the roost, but you can also find yourself
a smattering of indie, rock and reggae.
Nana
Plaza
Nana
Entertainment Plaza, located on Sukumvit Soi 4, opposite the Nana
Hotel is the choice of many expats as both the place to meet friends
for a quiet drink and a place to meet girls for hot times. Commonly
referred to as NEP, there are more than 30 bars in this three story
sex shopping centre that range from open air beer bars to go-go
bars to a even a short time hotel.
Nana
Plaza has become very popular in the last few years and many now
consider it the place to meet the most attractive working girls
in Bangkok. The quality of the girls in the bars bars goes up and
down so in a few months time, any recommended bars may no longer
be the best ones.
Soi
Cowboy
Soi
Cowboy, older than Nana Plaza but younger than Patpong is the least
popular of the three main gogo bar areas in Bangkok. Mainly frequented
by locals, the 100 metre long soi located between Sukumvit Sois
21 (Asoke) and 23 is a short strip of gogo bars with a handful of
open air beer bars.
Unlike
Patpong and to a lesser extent Nana, you can usually walk into a
bar in Soi Cowboy and get a seat without a problem. Cowboy is generally
quieter and far more relaxed and it is this that separates it from
the other areas. It is also the reason why some people like it and
others don't.
In
my opinion, there is nothing worse than being in one of the popular
Patpong or Nana Plaza gogo bars and not being able to get a seat
or getting a seat and feeling like a sardine.
Many
of the publicans at Cowboy complain about their bars being quiet
when Patpong and Nana are booming but perhaps they should have a
closer look at their establishments because some bars are downright
dingy. Very few of the bars are nicely decorated and many are shabby,
having not seen a fresh coat of paint in years.
BarSu Review
Sukhumvit Road's latest nightlife addition, BarSu at the
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, promises a sophistication currently lacking
from the Bangkok bar scene. With bold contemporary design, forward-looking
food and a daringly different music policy, it delivers. The team
behind it have crafted an elegant space that works not by fitting
into the 'loud beats' trend for bars, but by giving customers' pleasure-seeking
impulses - not dance music - pride of place.
Calypso Ladyboy Cabaret Review
Just as I make it to my seat, the stagelights flare up.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," announces a male
voice in pristine Queen's English. "Tonight we present for
you, the most beautiful ladies in all of Thailand..." A bold
claim in a land renowned for its strikingly exotic women, I think
to myself while getting acquainted with my complementary beer. This
is going to be interesting...
Patpong Revealed
Patpong, if you didn't already know, gets really bad press.
On the one hand it's renowned as the city's epicenter of sin, for
being sleazy, tacky, aggressive, a haven for pickpockets and exploiting
bar girls. And on the other it's home to perhaps the most ill-favoured
of Bangkok's markets, Soi 1's cramped, often overpriced and mostly
tourist tat filled night market. Incensed by these sensationalist
portrayals, we were invited by an Austrian entrepreneur and Patpong
businessman to take a closer look...
Patpong,
located between Silom and Suriwong Road in the heart of Bangkok's
commercial district is the original "farang" area of strip
joints in Bangkok. This area dates back to the '70s, In recent times,
the area has seen a steady increase in the number of street vendors
and now there's a busy night market market running down Patpong
1 and along the Silom Rd end of the soi.
Unlike
the other red light districts of Bangkok that are frequented almost
entirely by men, Patpong receives a large number of tourists including
couples, females, backpackers and even children. This tends to give
the area a very touristy feel to it, that to some, masks what goes
on behind the closed doors. Everything is available at Patpong from
gogo bars to massage parlours, discos, blowjob bars and sex shows.
The first thing that one notices at Patpong is that it is full on,
an area of real energy. Walking down one of the sois, you will be
barraged by touts in pigeon English barking out , you want cheap
beers, hello handsome man, welcome please" etc. You won't and
can’t escape it so if you want a hassle free evening, this may not
be the place for you.
Bangkok
Oyster Bar Review
The association between oysters and sex is such a cliché
that to order some on a date is embarrassing. Equivalent, say, to
sounding your glass in a restaurant, calling for hush and declaring
to a room full of strangers your lustful intentions. Order some
at Distil though - an extravagantly styled malt whisky, vodka, wine,
cigar and oyster bar up high on the 64th floor of Bangkok's State
Tower - and swallowing a few of the most obvious of aphrodisiacs
becomes seductive and sexy again.
